Forum Dialogue Visits Berlin

From 2-6 September the team of the House of the Wannsee Conference Memorial and Educational Site (GHWK) welcomed the management staff of Forum Dialogue from Warsaw to the Wannsee Villa. The visiting group was introduced to the GHWK and its different departments and had a chance to present its own work. During a guided tour of Berlin’s government district, the participants discussed current remembrance culture in connection with the Kroll Opera House (a possible location for the German-Polish House), the Memorial to the Murdered Sinti and Roma and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. The issue of how Germany has come to terms with its past since 1945 was explored in greater depth at the Topography of Terror Foundation. Relations with Israel, the United States and within Germany were discussed with various experts at the GHWK, the Jewish Community of Berlin and the Gollwitz Castle Meeting Centre.

We gained many new impressions of Germany and are looking forward to having the GHWK staff pay a return visit to Warsaw next March.
