GHWK Workshop in Warsaw: Addressing “antisemitism” in the educational work

On September 20th, 2025, Verena Bunkus from the GHWK was a guest at the Warsaw offices of Forum for Dialogue. As part of the “Szkoła Dialogu” program, teachers from all over Poland met to exchange ideas, network, and receive further training. The participants were also honored for their commitment.

One item on the agenda was a one-day seminar, in which Verena Bunkus discussed the work of the memorial and spoke about the educational principles of the education department. She introduced the concept of antisemitism education as practiced in Germany. She also reported on in-house training on the topic and the changes that the education department has made based on these principles.

Afterwards, it was time for the participants to become active. In the workshop, they critically examined passages from the minutes of the Wannsee Conference, looking for antisemitic motives which they could compare with the perspectives of those who suffered antisemitism. With the help of experts, they classified the phenomena.

Since some members of the group were already well acquainted and had been involved in the Forum for Dialogue network for many years, there was a very lively and fruitful exchange and discussion.
