Introduction to personal narratives

Video Gebärdensprache

Audio Text

Many personal accounts by those persecuted have survived. These five audio stations offer personal memories of around one-and-a-half-minutes each. They are based on personal notes, diaries or interviews. While the Wannsee protocol’s bureaucratic language obscured the crimes addressed as far as possible, these personal accounts provide a very concrete insight into the real aim of the meeting and what it led to.

These accounts tell of the experience of deportations and mass executions, forced labour on the mobile gas chambers, the deaths occurring even after liberation and the trauma of the Nazi terror.
